The Art of Reading a Menu at 50
Statistics state that 97% of us will need reading glasses by the age of 50. While I can still see fairly decent without glasses driving and watching the Spartans, I’m definitely one of the stats when it comes to reading.
One of the most fun things about going out to eat is reading the menu. I don’t know why we have such a fascination with this but we do. Even restaurants we’ve been to a hundred times we still read the menu like there is going to be something new on it that we must have.
While daylight menu reading is still good for me, nighttime menu reading can really suck. The first trick is to bring the menu away from your face and I always think it’s funny to watch people do that. The next trick is to bring a lighted magnifier which works the best when you remember to bring it. Yet another trick is to have your server provide a flashlight or candle.
My last trick when nothing else works is to have the BUB read me the menu. Hey, we all like story telling and this is one fun story to tell. But seriously, all we really want to do is read the blasted menu!
Readers have become a big business and I’m very happy to report that we will be selling them in the near future. Readers come in various strengths known as "diopters". We will carry the most popular of these. Our readers will range in price from $9-$20 retail and half that at wholesale.
I will buy a couple of pair for the car and travel so I will always be prepared just in case the BUB isn’t around. My question to you is do you need readers and if so, how many do you own?
Now how much is that bottle of wine?
Happy Wednesday!

I have a pair in the kitchen for recipes. One pair in the Master Bedroom, (the better to see you with my dear!). I also have a pair in the front bedroom, in case I lose the ones in the Master!. A pair next to my chair in the front room. A pair in my desk here at work, and my prescription glasses in my purse. I might need a pair in my car now? When are we getting ours in?

Having become a “statistic” since growing older “gracefully” (ha!) I have 4 pair. A dark gun metal color, 2 black and of course, my favorite pink pair. I will be very excited to see what we get in and of course will be purchasing a pair or two. They have to be color coordinated to match my wardrobe, of course! Great idea, LG!

There is no worse feeling than leaving the house and realizing I forgot my glasses. I had an occasion a few years back when I got pulled over while driving home from work ( someone had stolen the sticker off my license plate ) so the officer gave me a “Fix it ticket” the problem was I had left my glasses at work and when he handed me the ticket to sign I had no idea where to sign the thing and I had to ask him to point to the line. He just looked at me and said ” Should you be driving?” Sinse then I make sure I have a pair in every room of the house with a T.V. remote one in the kitchen, one in each car, one in my desk and one is always kept in my suitcase.

This is such a great idea for an extra retail item for us to carry. I have a question though-I’ve never had a pair that are not prescription-how do I determine what strength I need?

Lucky for me I am not at the point to wear I need my glasses all the time I do need them when I read or if I am on the computer for a long period of time, I have now problem reading the menu at resturants I am an extra pair of somewhat good eyes for my parents but my eyes are not at 100% and I am not getting any younger so soon we will just be a bunch of half blind people at a resturant who cant read there menus, and as of right now I only own and need one pair of glasses.

Don’t forget to use large print when advertising this item.

If you can read this, you do not need them.
You determine which diopter is best by trying them on and reading.

I occasionally wear a pair of readers with my contacts if the print is small or my eyes are tired.

Now that we have SAP, I can actually read the pre-receivers!

By having to try them on and read with them-this will be a better retail item in stores than out of catalog?…
