What If Media Did Not Exist?

We wake up in the morning and what is one of the first things we do? Turn on the TV or radio. We want to instantly know what we missed overnight, the current weather and what gossip we can talk about during the day.

We need to be updated 24/7. The media loves that we need to be updated 24/7. The Internet is 24/7. Heck, if you are reading this blog, you are connected and read this because you don’t want to miss anything and you love to read the comments.

But what if you woke up and the only thing you could turn on was the coffee maker? No TV. No radio. No Internet. No computers. In fact, no newspapers outside your door either (most don’t read them anyway).

Now think about this for a week straight. Now think about this for a month straight. What would the effects be?

The media makes us crazy. For one, we wouldn’t be crazy.

The media loves to focus on the negative. No one wants to read or listen about the person who won the lottery. We want to learn about the person who won the lottery and then lost it all.

We are all in a funk mostly in part because of the media. Most of us still get up in the morning, go to work, come home, do our thing and repeat the process the next day. That’s what we need to think about.

GM, Ford and such are huge media hits right now. Neither you or I are going to do anything about it. Let’s go to work, focus on what we do best and blast the media out of our minds. What an idea.

Happy Thursday (and Friday since I am off to Florida)!

The media looks for things that get people’s attention. That don’t look at community that helped each other out or the soldiers overseas that helped rebuild a village – that is too positive. The big thing to remember is that when the media brings out a story, it is based on one person’s (the journalist that wrote it) opinion. Imagine if the media focused on the positive stories – it would really be motivational. So yes, a week without the media would be great! Have a safe and fun trip to Florida, Larry!

What drives me crazy about the news is they exaggerate so much. They’ll say the roads are icy and covered with snow but when I go out they are fine. They said there would be long lines at the voting polls and when I went to vote there was no line at all! There worst thing about the media is they instill fear and panic in people. My favorite TV program is the Sunday Morning show on CBS. They only show positive upbeat news. Plus I love the host with the bow tie.

Actually i think its funny because I don’t listen to the media. Mostly for the reason that the media is going to portray whatever will get them the most viewers. You now have people scared to fly, when in truth you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning. The media blows everything out of proposion, and in fact is regulated where it can only show certain events that happen in other countries. So if the Tv is on in my room its only because I’m watching cartoons, wrestling, Chi-town bears, or 2 and half men.
