Things We Hate When We Are Late
I’m an on-time type of guy. In fact, I always like to be a couple minutes early than a couple minutes late. "On-timers" relate to each other and hate the "too-laters." The too-laters are always late and whether it’s a couple of minutes or longer, they always seem to have an excuse why.
One answer I have is that it is in our DNA to be on time or late. Inevitably, we are always late at one point in our lives and it seems the craziest things happen at the same time. Here is my list of the things we hate when we are late:
1. You hit every red light.
2. You need to fill your gas tank. Now I don’t know about you, but can those reels move any slower when you are filling up and want to go?
3. You need to go to the bathroom.
4. You are behind the slowest driver and can’t pass.
5. Airport security is down to one lane. Worse: you get beeped and have to be hand patted.
6. You get lost and miss the crucial exit.
7. A phone call, email and text message come at you simultaneously right before you get to where you need to be.
8. You need a pen to write something down and there isn’t one anywhere.
9. You forgot your ticket or passport.
10. You need to call to let the person know you are late and don’t have the number or lose cell service.
You see, now you know why it’s so much better to be early and/or on-time, and that doesn’t even take into consideration the stress "on-timers" have to deal with the "too-laters!" For 2009, have a sense of urgency and be on time.
Happy Tuesday!

Reels ??? If you went to a modern gas station, you might be able to fill your tank a little quicker.

I am an “on-timer”. I hate to be late for anything, so I’m usually 5-10 minutes early. It drives me crazy to have to stop for gas, hit red lights or even go the bathroom if it prevents me from being where I have to be.

I absolutely hate being late for anything.
It throws my whole entire day off, and what makes me really upset, is having to wait for people who are always late. ( My mother)!
If I invite her over for dinner and I know it’s going to be done at 6 I have to tell her it’s going to be done at 5.

Shannon..lol
I have a friend who is a major “too-later” she even jokes about being late for her own funeral…it drives me nuts. If we make plans I have to lie about our meet up time by at least 2 hours and even then she is still late..go figure…(but she is my friend so I deal)..
I am an “on-timer”… =0)

What ALWAYS seems to happen to me is I get stuck behind a school bus in the morning.. feels like they stop every 2 minutes!! just when you think you’ll be able to pass them.. they turn on the lights again for another pick up!!

I too hate being late for anything. If we are going some place I am always ready to go 30 minutes early. I stress out if something beyond my control makes me late…i.e. stopped by a train, slow driver etc…

I was once asked why I was here almost 25 minutes early… My husband and I have installed a safe-haven rule when it comes to work… If you are atleast 30 minutes early, you have ruled out the possiblity of ever being late, even in the instance of something major happening(with the exception of an accident). I only wish he followed that rule for family functions, that would make me stress a whole lot less.

I have to admit, I was a “too-Later” gal! I always tried to get out the door on time, but no matter how hard I tried, I seemed to make family funtions and freindly nights out with friends a few miniutes behind schedule. As for work , I was more of an “on-timer”, (but were talking right on time). Recently my car died on me and I have been riding with my dad to work. He’s only right down the street from here. This forced me to be at work possibly 30 minutes to an hour early for work! WOW is all I have to say. Even though I had to wake up earlier and sit at my desk before I punched in, I found myself getting more done throughout my days. I wasn’t rushing, I was feeling more alert and less stressed! I was feeling collected, CRAZY! Even though I was very resistant at first and very tired every morning, I feel this was a small blessing in disguise! I am forever a “on-timer”, better yet an “early riser-early arriver” from now on! Urgency is my new middle name!

I’m naturally an on time person. My mother and father are and my grandparents before my parents were always on time.
Funny, because the sense of urgency has completely passed my 7 year old daughter. That girl has made it a habit of being “fashionably” late for everything. Which, as you can imagine, starts to take a toll on her dear old mother when I’m trying to trek her out to school and then make it to work myself in these awesome Michigan weather conditions:)

I ALWAYS ALWAYS have been a late person, and it drives me insannnne!!!!!! I’ll get up in enough time to be like 10 minutes early, for anything not just work, and somehow I always end up being RIGHT on time or 2 minutes late. It drives my friends and family insane. I was late to my own sister’s wedding, and I was a bridesmaid!!! Definately something I need to work on in 2009!
