Favorite Snack Items
I’m glad I was a kid when I was a kid. I could eat any snack item guilt free since there was no labeling information way back then.
Hostess cherry and apple pies were among my favorites. The corner bites were the best. Little did I know that each pie was 480 calories, contained more than an ounce of sugar and had 55% of daily saturated fat. Heck, that was my dessert for lunch!
Kit Kat’s were also one of my favorites. One was never enough. Once we had a Kit Kat party and ate a dozen. We were done with Kit Kat’s for a while after that. Calories and fat content? Too scary to write about.
Salty snacks. Yum. Crunchy potato chips. Yum. So what if they are 10gm of fat per ounce. Back in the day, no one knew what an ounce of chips was. We only knew the size of the bags-small, medium or large. The One-Pounder’s barely lasted two days.
Snacks in a vending machine are also fun to eat. It’s sort of like a secret place to shop, sneak a snack and then feel guilty while eating it. My favorite vending snack was Marshmallow Pies.
OK, enough of me. What about you? I’m looking for your favorite gum, candy bar, salty snack, and bar (energy or protein). Thanks for sharing.
Happy Tuesday!

Ice Breakers Ice Cubes – best gum ever!! This has become my new favorite snack and I probably chew close to a pack every two days. It’s completely replaced the cigarettes I used to “snack” on…however Peanutbutter M&M’s come in with a close second

My favorite candy bar is a Milky Way. I like to put it in the freezer. The bite sizes are perfect size to just pop in ur mouth when cold. Yummie!!!!
My favorite salty snack is butter twisted pretzels.
And my gum is the LIGHT BLUE Strides. That gum last forever and its not over powering with mint flavor. Just refreshing!!!!

Gum – I have to agree with Kim on this one. Ice Cubes are the best gum.
Candy Bar – I love the fairly new Reese’s Whips! It’s like a three musketeers mixed with a reese cup. mmm…
Salty Snack – Either Cheez-Its or Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts.
Energy Bar – I don’t usually eat protein or energy bars, but the Snickers Marathon bars are pretty yummy.

Gushers!!
When I was a kid, I would go to the grocery store with my mom and she would let me get a box of them. And I would sit in the backseat and finish the box before we ever got home b/c I didn’t want to share them with my brother and sister!! LOL!
Oh! And those soft oatmeal cookies with the cream in the middle!

I don’t like Candy bars, but my favorite candy are without a doubt sour patch kids.
Chex Mix is my favorite salty snack and my favorite “bar” are Meijer Organics peanut butter granola bars. Amazing, and not that expensive!

Coconut cream pie (Hostess or some off brand company made a snack version). My mom would buy every one that the store had because I just couldn’t get enough of them.
Not much of a chocolate eater, but an Almond Joy is my go to when I do want chocolate.
Smartfoods White Cheddar Cheese Popcorn is my favorite salty snack. One bag is never enough.
Now I’m hungry.

Salty – Salted Cashews (with a side of Atarax)
Bars – My mom used to buy some kind of Carob bar back in the 70’s. No clue what it was.
My favorite snack of all time however was Space Sticks. Don’t think they are made anymore.

My mom used to pack me and my sister those oatmeal cookie cakes with the cream filling in the middle. I think they were little miss swiss or something like that! it’s been forever!
But I would have to say watermelon mint by Orbitz. It is amazing Gum!
I have a huge thing for whatchamacallit’s (not sure I spelled that right at all)
I have a massive craving everyday for Salt and Vinegar chips!
And Nutrigrain bars Strawberry are delicious! I could eat them all the time!
I am not sure what my cholestoral would be if I ate this healthy list on a daily basis, so once in awhile I indulge on one of these great snacks!

Any flavor of the Hostess pie was yummy. I haven’t had one of those in years.
I’m not one for chocolate, but if I do have anything it’s a snickers or Kit Kat.
Salty would be plain Lay’s potato chips. No one can eat just one…..

I never had a sweet tooth, still don’t….although I do remember enjoying a Marathon Bar or two. My favorite snack is blue cheese stuffed olives marinated in Ketel One.
June 23rd, 2009 at 2:41 pm
I love Cheez-its! And the Salsita’s in the vending machine, but I’ve recently given those up! lol…I do tend to chew gum during the day when I can’t smoke…usually some kind of peppermint or spearmint Orbitz. I’ve never tried the Ice Breakers Ice Cubes…maybe I’ll have to buy some next time I go for the gum =)

My absolute favorite candy bar is the 3 Muskateers….mmmmm…so good….chocolate, fluff and goodness..who could ask for more?
June 23rd, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Marathon bar YEA!!!! The braided caramel and chocolate.
At Halloween, I remember eating all the chocolate first ( usually gone by the next day) then chewy stuff. Gum and suckers were last. Booo.
Ice cubes are great. They bubble well and keep the flavor longer than most. Try strawberry.

Hostess Pies, cupcakes, Ding dongs and twinkies (especially from the freezer) were always a treat. Same with fast food. When I was little, they truly were a treat that you only got every once in a while. Once in a while my mom would buy a box, but my brother would eat them all the same day.

Sweet: I LOVED Moon Pies when I was a kid. That was the biggest deal when I could go to the gas station with my dad or a push-over babysitter and get one, haha. I shake my head and laugh at all the crap I ate as a kid and was just as skinny and lanky as could be. Not fair. Kit Kats, Flintstone Push-up pops, and Ice Cream Snickers Bars were also fond childhood favorites.
Salty: I also grew up loving Chex Mix (homemade by mom was the best for sleepovers) and Snyders Honey Mustard Pretzels.
Gum: I love the Trident Cool-lada gum
Bar: Luna “Chocolate Peppermint Stick” bar, it’s like christmas morning in a tasty snack!
