The Bottled Water Hoax?
Growing up as a kid, we had pitchers in the kitchen. We had pitchers that held 32 oz., 64 oz., and 128 oz. We had pitchers that were clear, adorned with flowers, and some that had other designs. We had glass and plastic pitchers.
We mixed Kool-Aid, frozen lemonade, iced tea in these pitchers. But mostly, we stored water out of the tap and at dinner time, put the pitcher of water on the table and that was that.
For those that don’t even know what a pitcher is, here is a classic example of a clear glass version:
Fast forward to 2009, pitchers can be found in antique and dollar stores. Perhaps one reason is because we drink everything from a bottle, including water.
Naturally this makes sense. We were born drinking from a bottle so why not continue doing so as an adult. There is a certain pleasure in doing so and when someone came up with the idea to put water in a bottle, everyone laughed.
No one is laughing now. Billion, trillion, zillions are sold each year. But the ones still laughing are the companies that produce the billions and trillions of bottled water. A report came out this week that none of the companies have to test for bacteria or anything else that might appear in the water. In some cases, the water used comes right out of the tap.
Personally my favorite water is FIJI. I know it doesn’t come out of the tap and it has a great taste. Because of it, I stopped drinking water from the tap. There are no pitchers of water in our refrigerator needless to say.
What’s your favorite water? Here is a test to take. Take two bottles of your favorite water. Drink one or empty one out. Fill it with tap water. Eat something salty. Then blindfolded, taste bottle #1. Eat something salty, Taste bottle #2. Then decide if you can tell which bottle is tap or bottled. You might just have the last laugh.
Happy Thursday!

I use a Brita Water Pitcher. I do own a glass pitcher, but I only use it when I have people over, for mixing sangria or something. I like Fiji water too, because the label peels off easily, making it easy to recycle.

You can’t tell the difference. We did this at home just a few months ago. I still have the pitcher of water at my house. But I will confess that it’s a Brita filter, but it’s still from the tap. I have bought a bottle of water every now and then but it’s only when I’m out and about and want something cold to drink.

I too love Figi! The cheapest place I found to purchase it is at Trader Joes. I cant stand Evian-Gross!
But, with all the waste that bottled water create’s, we should go back to pitchers. If I remember to do it, a Pur, or Brita filter on the tap or in the picher itself work great too:)

I loooove smart water!

I have a water filter hooked up to my kitchen sink. It’s hilarious because I occasionally buy a bottled water, then I just refill it every day for easy traveling. I need to get one of those new reusable drinking bottle so I can be green!

When I do buy it, my fav is Dasani, because I like Coke products best and this is distributed by Coca-Cola.
I hate Aquafina, (distributed by Pepsi) I would rather die of thirst then to drink it.

I have the worst tasting water at my apt. I live in Shelby Township and it literally tastes like what you would imagine sewer water tasting like. I know it’s just not my apt, I lived in a condo in the same city previously…AWFUL!
I can definitely taste a difference!!!
My favorite water by far is Smart Water. Maybe it’s because Jennifer Aniston looks so skinny, tanned and pretty in the add, LOL, but I love it. I also love the little fishie in the bottle! BRIT!!

Smartwater all the way!

Interestingly enough, bottled water for many has become one of the “must haves” that you eloquently blogged on back in June. It’s an expensive habit, and for the most part is considered to be one of the greatest marketing coups of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Talk about tricky–tricky–
Naive spelled backwards is Evian. Are they trying to tell us something??

Being that I can’t have a “tap” at my desk, Ice Mountain is the bottled water of choice.

We have a stream running under our neighborhood so we get the purest water from the tap. None of the treated city water, we can tell when we visit family and have their water it tastes like chlorine, I was a little sceptical at first when we moved into our house knowing we now have a well, i was scared that it would taste like iron and sulfer, It took me at least 3 months before I even tried the water in my home, But it is as clean as bottled water.

I am a big fan of the Smart Water too. Plus the goldfish on the bottle is so cute!!!

City water filtered through my Brita.
July 9th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
At home, I drink city water filtered through my refrigerator. I change the filter on the fridge every time the little light tells me to. At work, I drink bottled water from the vending machine (Aquafina) because I don’t think the water in our lunch room tastes right. I feel bad about the bottled water because I don’t always take the bottles home to recycle them…bad me.

At work, I fill my Weight Watchers mug from the drinking fountain. I started doing this after figuring out I was spending about $60.00 a month on bottled water just at work! At home, it is always some sort of bottled water, we have well water which I hate. At my exercise, I fill my reusable water bottle. When I do buy it, I usually buy Dasani or Ice Mountain.

I like Fiji water thanks to LG having them available at FH all the time.
It is the only water I will drink otherwise I have to put those lovely Crystal Light flavors.

To me Tap water is the best!
Cause let’s be Real, water is water! I am 25 and I could care less if it came from a bottle or tap!
I almost prefer tap, becsause it has been brought to my attention that all the plastic that is used on water bottles is trashed and a very small percentage is recycled like it should be… Visit http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5279230/
It talkes about the massive pile ups when it comes to bottles, all kinds to be exact!

I like VOSS bottled water fiji is also great.

Smart Water for me:-)

I usually drink water from the tap. I bring a bottle that I refill 3-4 times everyday. At home, I have a Brita filter and use tap water. I think it is absolutely ridiculous to pay for something I can have for free. People on a budget understand what I am saying.
I also like to add the water flavors too…mix it up a bit!

Even before I started working here I always loved Fiji water.
It reminds me of the PR Rainforest water…
