One other thing hairstylist buy from Sally's too those Wahl clippers with guards on them. Because they don't last and its like you know you will have to buy another set in 6 months so you go cheap.

Everyday...EVERYDAY I cut yet another home cut haircut. Most are buzzed cuts no one knows how to blend. Recession or not people trust a hairstylist best. Cuts for kids should in my opinion be the same as Adults after all most kids move around alot. Children have a head of hair just like Adults do. As for spouses cutting your hair..don't put that on them they have to live with you we don't.

Master stylist or not that still seems ridiculus. Especially when most kids cut are around $10, and they can just go up from that. In fact, my own haircuts are only $15 and that's with a beard trimming. But they do have to pay their booth rent. As far as the home trims, been there..done that too many times. Saves money but requires more patience ( and an extra mirror) for those hard to reach areas. But the kicker is alot of the hair stylist themselves are also moving towards working out of their own homes to save on the money they have to give up. Oh and for anyone daring enough, aren't the cheapest haircuts supposed to be at the barber schools (as the test dummy) ?? :) Have a great day everyone.

A "master" stylist should not have to charge less for a kids cut than an adult cut. You are paying for their skill and time which is the same whether it is a kids cut or an adult cut. If you want an inexpensive cut then I would suggest going to a discount chain such as Fantastic Sams.

I took my son to get a hair cut last night, and the only stylist available was a "master" stylist, which cost me $20! For a kids cut, I thought that was a bit ridiculous. I'm not a hairstylist, let alone a master, but I do just as well, if not better when I just cut his hair myself at home.... and it's free. Guess where I'm taking him next time he needs a cut... my bathroom! For myself, I would never cut my own hair. I maybe trim the bangs up a bit sometimes, but that's about it.

That was pretty humorous......I have corrected many home haircuts because they said it looked so easy when I did it, so they thought they could do it themselves.
On the flip side of that, I have a friend that always cuts her own hair and it looks great.....She's a huge exception. She has a professional haircut about every third or fourth cut. I guess she saves a chunck of change by doing it that way.

I've tried to cut the bangs between appointments many of times, and it never failed I always cut them to short. That's when I learned what a head band was. LOL

Speaking from experience, letting your spouse give you a haircut is not a good idea. This was not an attempt to save money, she just thought it looked easy. At least I was smart enough to make sure the salons were open. Yes, we had to make the emergency hair repair trip. The sytlist laughed her as_ off the whole time.

THIS WAS PRETTY HUMOUS! I have had to repair a few people's at home attempts. Even though Im extremly empathetic, like the Minardi salon, I show no mercy! Its more work to try to "blend" a mishap than to start with a clean slate. My own cheapskate brother messed up his and my nephews hair, and he gets cuts for free!
