Happy Thanksgiving!
Whew, this has been a busy few days. It’s amazing that when times are tough, the amount of work that has to be done increases as you keep reinventing yourself to be relevant. And 2010, relevant will be a key word.
Tomorrow is my favorite day of the year so it’s important to take a few moments to recognize Thanksgiving.
On the pure pleasure side, the day starts off with the Turkey Trot, a fun 10K in the predicted rain and 40 degree gloomy morning. Then breakfast, watch the Lions lose yet another game and then my favorite meal of all.
Here’s what I love: Drumstick, candied sweet potatoes, broccoli casserole, a little white meat and gravy, surely a little stuffing and pumpkin pie. No matter how slow I tell myself to eat and no matter how many times I tell myself one plate only, I have yet to be successful.
First plate lasts 6 minutes, second plate in 4. In 10 minutes, days of preparation and cooking is over with. I think that’s one of the things that makes it so much fun. Oh, let’s not forget the leftovers.
One of my favorites in this category is mish-mosh. This is not from any of Emeril’s cookbooks. To make, you cut up white and dark meat into chunks, add sweet and mashed potatoes, a little gravy and any leftover veggie. Combine in 9 x 13 dish. Heat for 30 minutes until steaming. Serve with side salad and cranberry dressing. Yum!
On the tradition side, it’s a great day of the year to be thankful. I just finished reading Mitch Albom’s latest book, Have A Little Faith, and it’s the perfect story for this time of the year. With 5 billion people living in poverty worldwide and millions in the USA miserable, in hospitals, nursing homes or hospice, you have to be thankful for what you have. Albom’s books have always preached on this subject.
So Happy Thanksgiving to all. Eat plenty, drink plenty and be sure to work out the following day. And thanks to all for making this day the best one of the year.
Happy Week!

Yes sir, I made my workout the next morning. But I was the only person in the whole gym! I guess everyone was shopping.

I hopped on the treadmill in the AM to stave off some of the guilt that comes with all the eating. It’s amazing though. I weighed myself on Thursday morning and then Friday morning and I put on 1/2 lb! Really…. in one day. I’m glad we get off work early today. I will be back in the gym after work.
Happy (day after) Thanksgiving LG and Teresa.

Happy Thanksgiving LG and Teresa. I always say I will not eat that much next year…..but I always end up eating way to much.
Getting off at 3:00 today is a good thing, I am heading north to my brothers and I will get my work out up there in the woods. It is still hunting season.
