Loading ...What’s going on in Egypt is unprecedented or is it? After more than 3 weeks, millions of citizens are still protesting for change at the top. Current President Mubarak must have thought by now the protester’s would be hungry, tired and go back to living their lives. But no-no and this has his strategy on the wrong track. While no one knows the outcome of this, it appears this type of activity by the people will continue to proliferate in country’s lacking a democracy. Let’s hope for the best. [Breaking news: Mubarak just announced he is stepping down.]
I am happy to say we are in stock of all Shellac colors (OK, no Crème Puff) and have plenty of lights too. I am also told the 12 new shades are shipped and will start arriving in our warehouses by Monday. Demand for the new colors is very strong and we will do our best to keep them in stock. While certain brands such as Gelish have rode the Shellac wave, nothing in this category is selling like Shellac. Our initial orders for the new shades approximate 1,000 units of each. Now that’s a lot of color.
ULTA continues to increase sales and open more stores. By yearend, they will have 400 stores open. Is it any wonder no one is talking about diversion anymore? The likes of L’Oreal, Unilever and P&G are licking their lips over the ULTA business. And ULTA’s success only proves one thing: Salon products are very desirable to consumers- give them adequate selection, good merchandising and they will sell. Too bad not enough salons understand this.
Speaking of salon retail, are the days of “concept” salons over? Does anyone really care if a salon only sells Aveda (Estee Lauder) or Bumble & Bumble (Estee Lauder)? Consumers want selection, choice and not being told what they have to buy. Concept salons leave a lot of money on the table for others to capture.
Are you doing anything for Valentine’s Day this weekend? I remember as a kid especially in elementary school how much fun VD was. The candy hearts were the best especially when given out to a few cute girls and my favorite teacher.
At Detroit Metro airport, full body scans. At the Cancun airport, you walk through the X-ray scanner with shoes on and they don’t even check your passport. What does that tell you about airport security?
How about the class action suit filed by Super Bowl ticket holders that couldn’t get seats? The NFL offered free tickets, hotel, and air to ANY future Super Bowl. But since the NFL screwed up and knew it, the fans want more. Why not sue the Detroit Lions owner William Clay Ford for not getting to a Super Bowl in more than 50 years? With all the money paid for tickets, merchandise and such, aren’t the fans owed that too?
Will Tiger Woods win another tournament? Looks like all those girlfriends were more costly than he thought.
Ford Motor paid off another $3 billion yesterday. It barely made headlines. Good job Alan Mulally and team.
Wynn reported that it’s Vegas operations were up more than 10%. If Vegas is coming back, then the economy must be picking up traction. More good news.
