Like a wedding, graduation ceremony and other life evolving events, you plan and plan and plan and next thing you know, the event is here. And then poof! The event is over. Funny, we spend our whole life planning for things that come and go poof!

DREAMS featuring Tiffany is less than a week away. Although this is our 8th year doing this event, it never gets easier and the amount of detail that goes into it is amazing. Luckily I have Liz handling so much of it.

I know that the three Hairdresser of the Year finalists are frantic because this truly is one of their biggest days of their life. They grow up real quick and learn what it takes to multi-task and produce a 3-minute live segment. It’s scary, it’s nerve racking, it’s free flowing adrenaline.

New this year is the salon team competition. This event is very cool since it allows the salon to utilize their best talent to create the look instead of a single hairdresser. It will be interesting to see who places in this one.

Most importantly, DREAMS is a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society and this event has raised more than $1.7 million. A few tickets are still available for purchase. $75 ticket includes full dinner and program; $125 tickets includes full premium dinner, valet and program.

Five days and counting. Who will the winners be? Please join over 500 guests on Sunday night to find out and if you can’t join us, visit thetiffanyawards.com on Monday.

Happy Tuesday!

The results are in and the this years three finalists for the prestigious Tiffany Hairdresser of the Year are:

Nicole Jackson, Salon Lux, Shelby Township, MI

This is Salon Lux’s first finalist in the competition and Nicole’s first try entering. “I am stunned and excited at the same time,” Nicole gushed when told she was a finalist.

Anna LaTorre, Pigalle Salon & Med Spa, Beverly Hills, MI

Pigalle Salon & Med Spa is no stranger to this competition. Irina Miasnikova, owner, won last year. Anna was part of Irina’s entourage so she has find hand experience. “It would be so much fun to win this especially after Irina winning it last year,” Anna excitingly commented after being told the news.

Colleen Dwyer, 6 Salon, Birmingham, MI

Like Pigalle, 6 Salon is no stranger to Tiffany. They have not only won Hairdresser of the Year, but many other coveted awards. “I’m so excited for Colleen and the salon,” proudly stated George Nikollaj (owner along with brothers Tomy and Johnny). “This is amazing news and I look forward to sharing with our team,” added George.

The field will be perhaps the most competitive in its 8th year. The competition takes place October 3 at Andiamo’s original location  in Warren. Please visit thetiffanyawards.com for more information and tickets.

Good luck to the finalists!

Kemon Nights featuring Tiffany Less Than A Month Away

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Bye-bye summer that never came. 48 degrees this morning. The past two weekends were chilly and dreary. People were driving to the cider mills this past weekend only to find them closed (they do open next weekend for the season).

Wherever summer went, just like that it’s September and that means the start of the busy time of year. One major holiday each month means time flies by even faster and shortly we will have to deal with school busses and more traffic.

But it also means our really big annual event is coming up. This year we combined Tiffany and Kemon Nights into one fabulous event September 26 at the Royal Oak Music Theater. This will truly be the signature event for the pro beauty industry.

Once again, we have three talented hairdressers going for the coveted Hairdresser of the Year award (visit thetiffanyawards.com for more info). Up and coming rock band Sinjon Smith will once again provide pre-show entertainment.

This year the DeBartolos brothers along with the Kemon Artistic and Technical team will deliver spectacular trends for the fall-winter season.

There will be also be a yummy Italian-theme strolling dinner and tickets are only $50 or $100 VIP. And remember, this is a charity event for the American Cancer Society. We hope to cross the $1.5 million mark with your help.

If you’re part of pro beauty industry, this is a must-attend event. And even if you aren’t, it’s an event you have to witness once to see what all the excitement is about. Get your tickets while they last.

Happy Monday!
