Out of My Mind On A Friday Mornin’
Friday, April 29th, 2011I have to admit that I got caught up in the “wedding” this morning. I was in-between workouts and saw the wedding ceremony, rings being exchanged and them gallantly waving in their carriage. What thoughts could have possibly going through Kate’s mind during all this?
Gas prices are on a tear and so are coffee, gold, silver, corn and virtually all other commodities. Mind you, this is happening in a weak economy that grew just 1.8% last quarter and the same economy in which unemployment claims jumped past 400,000 once again. The good news is that deflation is no longer a threat (yes, it’s worse than inflation), but inflation looks to be be rearing it’s ugly head around the corner. Look for price increases of 3-5% to be announced by most companies throughout the next quarter.
Red Wings start Round 2 against the Sharks. Does anyone watch hockey at 11PM at night?
OPI Pirates of the Caribbean and Black Shatter open stock hit our warehouses. YEAH!
And CND Shellac continues to set new records. As I wonder in salons, I am amazed at how many women now come in asking for Shellac. More good news for our industry.
TNG Facebook viewership is up more than 100% from last year. Appears fans are loving the news, contests and surveys.
Speaking of inflation, my dozen bagels at Einstein’s this morning was $9.49, another $.30 increase since the first of the year. I remember not long ago they were $4.99 a dozen. Moral of the story: Don’t give service away, consumers will pay and understand if prices go up a little.
Our first new Texas store opens Monday in Plano! Catt has been very busy getting everything set up and ready to go. I will post photos next week, it looks absolutely FAB!
TNG once again exceeded it’s goal for ACS Tell A Friend, more than 2000 calls were made in only 3 weeks. If you know someone 40 or over, anytime is a good time for a reminder phone call to get a mammogram.
Two hottest stores at any mall: Apple and Lululemon.
Wal-Mart is testing home delivery of groceries. So is amazon.com. Why? Are we that lazy that we can’t even shop for food?
One more thought on the Royal wedding. It was such a relief to see a mob of people, this time in Trafalgar Square, that were actually smiling, waving flags, and cheering instead of fighting and yelling. Perhaps the British have it right after all.
Happy Friday!
